Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday night’s D’var Torah on Sh’mot: “Who Am I? I Will Be What I Will Be”. This D’var Torah is a response to the Storming of the Capitol Building on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
On Shabbat morning, we discussed the purpose of God’s command that Moses remove his sandals. Was it a warning not to be disrespectful or nonchalant? Mental preparation for the encounter with God? A demonstration of reverence for God and acknowledgement of the sacredness of the place? We also discussed why God did not tell Moses to take off his sandals BEFORE he walked on holy ground?
