TBAY is committed to responding quickly and compassionately and to offering guidance in accordance with Jewish tradition. Rabbi Finkelstein is ready to provide necessary information and needed support to mourners as they make funeral arrangements, conduct shiva minyanim (sitting shiva), and help plan memorial markers. Our congregation cares for its mourners and works to ensure that they do not face life’s difficult moments alone. We can give you contact information for area funeral homes to help you plan a traditional funeral at a reasonable cost. In addition, we hold daily morning minyan services on Zoom and send special requests when a minyan is needed for a shiva or yahrzeit observance.
May the Almighty comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
Planning Your Bereavement
If a death has occurred or is imminent, please contact the Temple. Rabbi Finkelstein will help you through the final stages of life, including helping with viddui (a final confessional and Sh’ma) if desired. Our Executive Director Jackie Baranoff can provide you with information on purchasing a plot at a local cemetery. TBAY is able to offer member-only prices for plots at the Grove of Beth Ahm Yisrael, a Cemetery on the Grounds of the Menorah Section of East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, New Jersey.
Yahrzeit Observance
To help our congregants remember their loved ones, TBAY provides a yahrzeit reminder service for all members. We also provide minyan assurance for anyone needing to say the Mourner’s Kaddish. Our sanctuary is a meaningful place to place a memorial plaque. We light each person’s plaque every year and on Yizkor service days.
